Being of the existentialist persuasion, I believe that one is responsible for the actions they make during their life. I made my first intaglio etching when I was 4, sold my first artwork to a collector when I was 7, and received my first painting commission when I was 10. It should come as no surprise then, when I was offered my first elective class -in junior high school- that I picked Art. This choice turned out to be very problematic, however, in that I was the sole student to make such a selection. The school’s administration was vexed, and in a bizarre bureaucratic move to save opening an art class, they arranged for me to pursue my artistic studies in their Special Education class. Gyration and Defacement have been collaborators in my artwork ever since.
