I have always felt that viewing art is one of the more democratic activities humans can engage in, as the artist presents a uniquely original object in the gallery, and leaves the viewer to complete the experience with their own criteria and personal interpretation. My accompanying comments have thus been written to parallel, but not define, my artwork. It’s the viewer’s personal relationship with the artwork I wish to cultivate, and not for my work to be summarized by any accompanying text.

Gloria Steinem popularized the famous feminist catch phrase - A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” - and it’d be a fish tale to claim this work’s genesis wasn’t literary illustration.
